How usage works

Every plan includes a monthly allowance. This page sets out exactly what’s in it, what happens if you go past it, and what anything extra costs.

We’ve written this out in full because most of our industry doesn’t. “Unlimited” with an asterisk isn’t a price — it’s a surprise waiting for the month you get busy. You should know what you’re buying before you buy it.

Allowances reset on the first day of each billing month. Unused allowance doesn’t carry over.

If you’re on the 14-day test period, everything above is included. You won’t be charged for usage before your subscription starts.

What counts as what

An AI call minute is one minute of a call your assistant answers or places. Calls are measured in whole minutes, so a call lasting 2 minutes 10 seconds counts as 3. Outbound calls that ring out without being answered are not normally counted.

A message is one SMS or one WhatsApp message. A standard SMS carries 160 characters — Norwegian letters including æ, ø and å are part of that standard, so ordinary Norwegian text is unaffected. Emoji and unusual punctuation switch a message to a different encoding that holds only 70 characters, and anything longer than the limit is sent as several linked parts, each counting separately. Your assistant is set up to keep replies short and plain, so in practice this rarely matters.

A web chat conversation is one continuous session between a visitor and the assistant on your website, however many messages it contains. A session closes after 24 hours without activity.

An email is one email to one recipient.

If you go past your allowance

Your service doesn’t stop. The assistant keeps answering the phone. We don’t throttle, pause, or cut anything off because you’ve reached a number. The whole point of the system is that calls get answered.

We tell you before it happens. You’ll get an email at around 80% of your allowance. Nothing arrives as a surprise at the end of the month.

Small overruns are on us. If you go a little over now and then, we absorb it. We’d rather you used the system properly than watched a counter.

Consistent overruns usually mean good news. If you’re regularly past your allowance, your business is busier than the plan was built for. We’ll get in touch — and more often than not the next plan up will cost you less than the extra usage does. If you’d rather stay where you are, that’s completely fine. Extra usage is then charged at the rates below.

Extra usage

Most clients who go over prefer to buy ahead. It works out cheaper than paying per unit, and there’s nothing to settle at the end of the month.

Top-up bundles

Top-ups don’t expire. Your monthly allowance is always used first, so a top-up is only drawn on once the month’s included usage is gone — you never pay for something that was already included.

For context: a part-time receptionist in Norway costs more than twice this per minute of call actually handled, and only during office hours.

Prices shown in GBP. Norwegian clients are invoiced in NOK at the exchange rate on the invoice date.

Extra usage is invoiced separately at the end of the month. We’ll always contact you first.

What isn’t included

Bulk campaigns. Reactivation campaigns, seasonal offers and any single send to more than 200 people are quoted separately. You decide when to run these, so you decide what they cost — we’d rather quote you a campaign than surprise you with one.

Picture and video messages. Carriers price these several times higher than plain text, so they’re never part of the allowance. They’re charged at the rate above whenever they’re sent.

Traffic outside Norway. Allowances assume you’re calling and messaging Norwegian numbers. Other destinations are charged at the applicable rate for that country, which we’ll confirm with you before anything is sent.

Checking your own usage

You can see your usage at any time inside your account, under Settings → Company Billing. You don’t have to wait for us to tell you where you are.

Changing plans

Moving up takes effect immediately. You pay the difference prorated for the rest of the month, and your allowance increases by the same proportion. From your next billing date you get the full allowance of your new plan.

Moving down takes effect at the end of your current billing month.

There’s no fee either way. Monthly plans have no minimum term. Annual plans run for the twelve months you’ve paid for.

Common questions

Do unused allowances roll over? No — your monthly allowance resets each month. Top-up bundles are different: they don’t expire, and they’re only drawn on once the month’s allowance is used up.

What if I have more than one location? Each location has its own allowance. They aren’t pooled unless we’ve agreed that in writing.

Do you charge for calls nobody answers? No. If a call rings out and no voicemail is left, it doesn’t count against your minutes.

Will my card be charged automatically for extra usage? No. Your subscription is charged automatically; extra usage is invoiced separately, and we contact you before we invoice.

Can these rates change? Carrier and platform charges are set by third parties, not by us. If those change materially we’ll give you 30 days’ written notice before adjusting the extra-usage rates on this page. We’d give you the same notice before any change to your plan price.

What happens if my payment fails? We’ll email you and retry. Your assistant keeps working while we sort it out — we won’t take your phone system down over a failed card.
